It is hard to believe we are already well into the first quarter of 2024. We are proud to share our most recent publication Homelessness and Housing Needs for Adults Served by the Department of Developmental Services and the Regional Center System in California in this first quarter newsletter. Access to affordable, accessible housing is an essential component of ensuring that people with disabilities can live rich, full lives in the community of their choice. This report is the first of many as we look forward to continuing our work to support increasing access to affordable, accessible, and safe housing option for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in California.
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are also an essential component of ensuring that people with IDD can live, work, and leisure in the community of their choice. Over the next several months the team at CPCIDD will be turning our attention and focus to understanding the challenges, barriers, and impact of the DSP workforce shortage on the lives of people with IDD in California. We look forward to engaging with stakeholders in the community as we seek to learn more about the complexities and the impacts of the DSP workforce shortage.
