Watch the ACRC Client Advisory Committee (CAC) Housing Video and join the Association of Regional Center Agencies CAC panel as they discuss their insights on creating inclusive housing for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Representatives from the California Department of Developmental Services, San Diego Regional Center, and Alta California Regional Center discuss the opportunities to partner with regional centers for developing multifamily housing.

Micaela Connery from The Kelsey will provide an overview of the best practices in developing inclusive housing for individuals with developmental disabilities. She will also share her experiences developing housing in the Bay Area with The Kelsey.

Housing Development Workshop Lunch and Learn – Dr. Lou Vismara and the team from AKT Development describe the Community for Health and Independence. This partnership with UC Davis aims to leverage their combined experience and expertise to create a planned community focused on healthy aging in place for all residents, including adults with developmental disabilities.

Housing Access Services – Darin Lounds from Housing Consortium of the East Bay and Ruth Henderson from First Step Housing Access Services discuss their work in connecting regional center clients to affordable housing.

Housing Authorities – Ian Evans, Executive Director of Yolo County Housing, will provide an overview of Housing Authorities, focusing on the specific activities of Yolo County Housing and its partnership with regional centers. Tom Lewis from the California Affordable Housing Agency will discuss the opportunities available for regional centers, developers, and housing authorities to collaborate. Crystal Warren with the Housing Consortium of the East Bay will share their partnership with the Contra Costa County Housing Authority.

What’s Next – Additional advocacy at the Local, State, and Federal (Panel) – Vivian Haun from Disability Rights California, Tony Anderson from the Association of Regional Center Agencies, Mark Melanson from the California Community Living Network, and Darin Lounds from the Lanterman Housing Alliance share their thoughts on opportunities for local, statewide, and federal advocacy to support increasing access to affordable housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
